How much interest will the County have to pay?

That depends on market conditions at the time the bonds are issued. Forsyth County has a distinct advantage in issuing bonds because our credit rating is so good. Both Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s recently increased the county’s general obligation rating. The rating from Moody’s increased from Aa2 to Aa1, while Standard & Poor’s rating went from AA to AA+. Forsyth County is now only one notch below the highest credit rating available; and we are now the fourth highest rated county in Georgia, behind only Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett. This increased rating speaks highly about the county and will serve us well as we offer bonds in the future.
